Outreach

This page showcases an outreach event entitled: “Dating the past: how can we establish the timeline of our history?”. These activities focus on dating methods (e.g., radiocarbon, luminescence dating, argon/argon, tephrochronology) and opportunities for generating chronological timelines. The activities include a timeline based card-game (see below for further details).

If you would like to use this outreach event please contact me for the materials.

The posters below can be used to discuss the different types of dating techniques and their chronological age limits.

The images below are used for the timeline card game. Participants are asked to pin ten chronological events on a line. Once they are confident of the order, they can flip the card to check the date. This permits a discussion of how the events may be dated (related to the posters above).
